Dr. W. Jarrard Goodwin is one of the leading physicians in the treatment of cancer and benign tumors of the mouth, throat, neck, salivary glands, thyroid gland, and facial skin.
The creation of this fund honors his friendship with Dr. Anthony J. Maniglia, an expert head and neck surgeon, who practiced medicine of the ear, nose, and throat, as well as head and neck, at the University of Miami. Dr. Maniglia, who passed away in 2017, was a remarkable surgeon who taught a generation of Otolaryngology residents here in the 1970s and 1980s. Dr. Goodwin started as his student and later became his colleague and long-time friend.
Dr. Goodwin has played an integral role in the growth of Sylvester, having helped build a successful business model for clinical research and recruited some of the best cancer faculty, scientists, educators, and physicians at Sylvester. Additionally, he has been instrumental in building and optimizing Sylvester’s satellite locations in Deerfield Beach and Kendall.

The Anthony J. Maniglia and W. Jarrard Goodwin Otolaryngology Residency Endowment Fund
After first coming to Miami 47 years ago for residency training in Otolaryngology, serving as Chair of the Department for 11 years, and serving as the Director of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. W. Jarrard (Jerry) Goodwin is retiring.
The Anthony J. Maniglia and W. Jarrard Goodwin Otolaryngology Residency Endowment Fund honors the memory of Dr. Anthony J. Maniglia and the service of Dr. W. Jarrard Goodwin, longstanding faculty members and physicians in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
This Fund will be used to provide support for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine residents' research, education, and professional development in the Department of Otolaryngology.
