Brighter Vision
Your donation will support The Patricia A. Whitely Emergency Endowment Fund, which assists University of Miami students who have experienced unforeseen financial hardships due to a catastrophic event in their life. An embodiment of the ‘Canes Care for ‘Canes approach, this fund has helped students receive desperately needed resources when facing emergencies such as unexpected severe changes in their family’s finances, the death of a parent, or even a severe illness or injury.
This is a unique opportunity to share the light of our students with our ’Canes family here in Miami and around the world, and give back where it counts.
Gifts made to the Patricia A. Whitely Emergency Assistance Fund through the Brighter Shades campaign before October 6, 2021, will count towards #OneDayOneU, our Giving Day at the University of Miami.
Donations FAQs
Your mailed receipt will highlight the tax-deductible portion of the gift, taking into account the value of the shades. One item will be provided per donation. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. Unfortunately, we are not able to mail internationally at this time. Please provide a domestic address in the Shipping Address field on the payment page.

You picked the final design—now add it to your collection of ’Canes swag! With a donation of $30 you will receive this exclusive ’Canes case complete with sunglasses designed by a current student and voted on by you.
Share your ’Canes pride—your donation will help a student experiencing sudden financial hardship, whether due to family finances, severe illness, injury, or other emergency. Our students have been lighting the way to a better tomorrow for nearly a century.
